In One Day International (ODI) cricket, plenty of records have been created and shattered since its inception but in the last 12 years, cricket fans have witnessed batters hitting double tons in ODIs, which was a far-fetched dream once.

So far, there have been nine instances when someone has scored a double century in ODI cricket. Out of which six have been racked up by Indian batters including three alone by the incumbent India skipper Rohit Sharma.

Talking about the record of scoring the fastest double tons, here also, the chart is getting ruled by Indian players only. Of the five fastest double centurions, three are Indians with their rapid knocks.  Recently, 24-year-old Ishan Kishan, who has played many swashbuckling innings in the Indian Premier League, used his experience and skills to pull off the feat. Let's take a look at the five fastest double tons scored in ODI history:

5. Fakhar Zaman 210* (156 balls) vs Zimbabwe in 2018

In 2018, Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman became the sixth player to smash a double hundred in ODIs. During Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2018, the left-handed batter smashed unbeaten 210 runs off 156 deliveries in the fourth ODI to become the only Pakistan batter to score a double hundred in ODIs.

In the match, Zaman along with his opening partner Imam-ul-Haq gave a solid start to the Pakistan team. The opening duo stitched together a record partnership of 304 runs. The Southpaw, while playing the best knock of his career, scored a century off just 92 deliveries.

After notching up his ton, he accelerated the innings and reached his double hundred off just 148 deliveries. With this, he also broke Saeed Anwar’s record of 194 runs against India (1997).

Later after ending his innings on 210 runs off 156 deliveries, he also became the fifth-highest individual scorer in ODIs by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s 200. The dashing Pakistan batter decorated his massive innings with 24 fours and five maximums.
