Nitish Rana had shown Kolkata Knight Riders the way by leading from the front. The Delhi cricketer first rose to the occasion in the match against Punjab Kings with the ball. On a slow deck at Eden Gardens, he decided to roll his arm in the fifteenth over.

This time he dismissed his counterpart Shikhar Dhawan who was well set scoring his another IPL fifty. Trying to take on Nitish, Dhawan miscued one high in the air and Vaibhav Arora took the catch. Although Rana bowled one over only, he had an immediate impact with Dhawan's wicket. But power hitting from the lower order took the score close to 180.

While chasing the score, Rana found himself in the middle inside powerplay. The attacking batter restrained himself from playing shots. He took the game deep, and kept on taking singles to keep the runs coming. He smashed Liam Livingstone in the eleventh over for boundaries. But immediately after reaching his fifty, he got out to Rahul Chahar.
