2. Joe Root

England’s consistent run-scorer in the Test format for the last decade, Joe Root decided to put up his name for the IPL auction for the first time. The move might be to gain exposure on the Indian pitches, which can benefit him during the 2023 World Cup scheduled in the country.

The 31-year-old holds an average of 35.72 in T20Is and a prolific 50.05 in the ODIs. Although Root has not played enough games in the limited-overs in the last few years, he certainly has an all-format proficiency.

Unfortunately only a maximum of 30 overseas spots are up for grabs, which accounts for only three per franchise (varies for every team). Franchises will definitely favour players, who have a wealth of experience playing in franchise leagues over Root.
