4. Sachin Tendulkar (1611 runs in 1996) 

Sachin Tendulkar is one of the most prolific run-getters of all time. The ‘Master Blaster’ featured in 463 matches and notched up 18426 runs at an average of 44.83. In Tests, the former Indian cricketer piled on 15921 runs in 200 games at an average of 53.78. 

Sachin was in pristine touch in 1996. He was the leading run-getter of the year in ODI cricket, smashing 1611 runs in 32 matches at an average of 53.70, which comprised six tons and nine half-centuries. The legendary cricketer brought his A-game into play in the Wills World Cup in 1996. He featured in seven games at the competition and aggregated 523 runs at a staggering average of 87.16. 

Sachin was also prolific with the bat in the Tri-nation series (Titan Cup) comprising South Africa and Australia and scored 320 runs in sixes at an average of 53.33. Courtesy of his magnificent performances, the Men in Blue stood victories in the series.
