Harmanpreet Kaur joins list of Ram Mandir's Pran Pratistha Ceremony invitees

Former India cricketers MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar have been also invited to the event.

Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is the latest cricketer to be invited to Ram Mandir’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22 in Ayodhya. The 34-year-old has been invited to the much-anticipated event set to be attended by thousands of devotees. Earlier several other men cricketers were also invited to the consecration ceremony of the temple such as star batter Virat Kohli and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Former India cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have been also invited to grace the holy event with their presence as the fervour of Ram Lalla’s homecoming pervades the entire nation. According to reports, Virat Kohli is most likely to attend the sacred event and has been even granted permission by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).

Notably, team India assembled in Hyderabad to prepare for the Test series against England beginning from January 25 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Kohli will reportedly take part in a practice session on Sunday, January 21 and will travel to Ayodhya to attend Ram Mandir’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22.

Meanwhile, honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the event along with several renowned personalities of the country from all walks of life such as Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, industrialists Mukesh Ambani, and Ratan Tata among others.

Notably, Pran Pratishtha is a ceremony by which a Hindu Temple consecrates an Idol. During the event, holy hymns and mantras are performed to welcome the almighty in their sanctum abode. A Varanasi-based priest named Lakshmi Kant Dixit will perform the main rituals of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 22.

The Vedic rituals began one week in advance on Tuesday, January 16 while the temple will be open for the general public from January 23. The installation of Ram Lalla’s idol took place on Friday, January 19 and the images of the 51-inch idol, crafted by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj have been circulating widely on social media.
