During a batting onslaught at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala, Shubman Gill's brilliance stole the show on Day 2 of India's 5th Test against England. Aakash Chopra could not contain his admiration as Gill, once grappling with form, notched his 4th Test century off 137 deliveries. His scintillating stroke play, that culminated in a boundary off Shoaib Bashir, left fans and pundits spellbound.

The right-handed batter’s impressive innings saw him amass 110 runs from 150 balls, adorned with 12 boundaries and five maximums before James Anderson claimed him as his 699th Test wicket. India, bolstered by his heroics, asserted their dominance, leading by 255 runs at Stumps on Day 2 against England. Chopra, impressed by Gill's flair, lauded the young batter, and tipped him for greatness in the cricketing domain as the day concluded at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

"I am convinced that Shubman Gill has the DNA of greatness because of the way he bats. A lot of things are important while batting. Scoring runs is one thing but the other thing is to get the understanding of how to score runs," Chopra told Colors Cineplex.

Chopra sums up Gill’s journey up until his recent ton

Struggling for form until the Rajkot Test, Gill has turned the tables, as he emerged as the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing series. With 452 runs from nine innings at an impressive average of 56.50, his resurgence has been remarkable. Batting at No.3, he forged a crucial 171-run partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma, who also notched a splendid century. His revival and partnership were instrumental in India eventually winning the fifth Test by an innings.

"Everyone has to score runs to reach here or else you wouldn't have reached here, it's very simple. However, at times it takes a lifetime to understand when, how, and against whom you have the most chances of scoring runs," Chopra added.
