'If you combine that with the obvious batting talent, I think they'll win one somewhere along the line," Ian Bishop said.

Despite being a huge force in international cricket, team India has failed to make it count where it matters. India last won an ICC title back in 2013, when former skipper MS Dhoni-led them to the Champions Trophy title in England. However, any other ICC title since then has eluded one of the best sides in world cricket.

There is no doubt that India have a plethora of talented players in their arsenal. Over the years, the Indian team has dominated world cricket, but they have not been able to win an ICC title for over 10 years now.

As the side gears up for the ODI World Cup 2023 that is scheduled to begin on October 5, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop came forward to give his take on why India has been unable to get their hands on an ICC title. Bishop opined that India was short on preparations for the World Test Championship final against Australia.

"Hard to really pinpoint any one thing. The World Test Championship finals were played in England. And there's an acclimatisation process, just a small example that you need when you go to England to compete well. And the two times they've made it, New Zealand were already playing Test cricket in England, and so they were ahead of the game. And then they encountered Australia there, and India had to fly in and turn things around in a short space of time," Ian Bishop told OneCricket.

Furthermore, Bishop opined that team India will need their pacers at the top of their game if they are looking to win ICC tournaments. He opined that the Indian bowling attack, combined with their batting prowess, will help India win an ICC title down the line.

"The other thing is you need your fast bowling resources if you're going to win ICC tournaments and trophies in the west. You need your group of fast bowlers to be healthy and functioning well. And if you combine that with the obvious batting talent, I think they'll win one somewhere along the line. They just need to align all of those," he added.
