International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its Women's ODI Team of the Year 2022 with eleven best players who impressed throughout the year. Indian star Harmanpreet Kaur is named captain of the team with star batter Smriti Mandhana and pacer Renuka Singh also included. But star all-rounder Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, India's leading wicket-taker in ODIs in 2022, are two notable absentees in the team.

The Indian captain scored 754 runs from 16 ODI innings at an impressive average of 58.00 in 2022. She scored two hundreds and five fifties, including her remarkable 143* against England in September. As expected, Smriti Mandhana is also included in the team after scoring 696 runs from 15 innings at an average of 49.71 and a strike rate of 81.21 with the help of one hundred and six fifties. She scored a century against West Indies in the World Cup and later ended the year with two fifties against England.

Renuka Singh, who made her ODI debut in February 2022, made a big impact with 18 wickets from just seven innings last year. She made the headlines with two consecutive four-wicket hauls against England in September after her career-best spell of 4/28 against Sri Lanka.

Only two Australian cricketers make the ICC Women's ODI Team of the Year 2022

In a huge surprise, only two players from the world champions and the current no.1 team Australia made the team this year. Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney, who occupy the top two spots in the ICC ODI batter's chart are included in the team with the former donning the wicketkeeping gloves. England's star all-rounder Natalie Sciver and spin ace Sophie Ecclestone are also part of ICC Women's ODI Team of the Year 2022 despite the team's struggles last year.

Last year's leading run-scorer Laura Wolvaardt is part of the team alongside two South African pacers Ayabonga Khaka and Shabnim Ismail. Kiwi youngster Amelia Kerr has earned the all-rounder spot ahead of the world's no.1 ODI all-rounder Hayley Matthews. The Caribbean all-rounder scored 489 runs and took 26 wickets in ODIs last year but it was not enough to make the team.

ICC Women's ODI Team of the Year 2022: Alyssa Healy (Australia & WK), Smriti Mandhana (India), Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa), Natalie Sciver (England), Beth Mooney (Australia), Harmanpreet Kaur (India & Captain), Amelia Kerr (New Zealand), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Ayabonga Khaka (South Africa), Renuka Singh (India), Shabnim Ismail (South Africa).
