Indian bowlers started impressively against South Africa in the ongoing first T20I match in Thiruvananthapuram. Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar were spectacular with their opening spells and folded opponent's half lineup on just nine runs in the first 15 deliveries of the innings.
Once again, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first at the Greenfield International Stadium. India rested their key pacer Jasprit Bumrah and replaced him with Deepak and Arshadeep came in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. After seeing so much grass on the pitch, it was obvious that the pacers will be dominating the first T20I.
Watch: Deepak Chahar rips off stumps
Deepak bowled the first over and dismissed South African captain Temba Bavuma on the last delivery. He got extra pace and bounce from the first delivery and troubled Bavuma on the fourth and fifth delivery where the ball was seaming with out-swing. On his next delivery, he surprised Bavuma with an in-swinger which ripped the off stump.

Arshdeep then outdid Deepak's start with three eye-watching wickets in the next over. He bowled out Quinton de Kock on the second delivery with an almost full-length delivery. He conceded four and bowled two wides on next deliveries and seemed a little out of focus.
But he then dismissed Rilee Rossouw on the fifth delivery with a good-length ball that caught the bat's outside edge and settled in Rishabh Pant's gloves. He outdid Deepak's delivery to Bavuma on the last ball and bamboozled David Miller on the golden duck.
In the third over, Deepak dismissed young batter Tristan Stubbs on a golden duck and South Africa were struggling at 9/5 in just 2.3 overs. Aiden Markram and Wayne Parnell then avoided the further fall by putting a 33-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Harshal Patel dismissed Markram on 25 runs in the eighth over and South Africa were struggling at 48/6 after 10 overs.
