After winning his fifth IPL trophy on Tuesday morning, Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni was spotted being emotional as he hugged Ravindra Jadeja after the game. Notably, with ten required in the last two deliveries, the Southpaw wreaked havoc, hitting a six and a four to Mohit Sharma and with that, CSK joined MI to become the most decorated franchise in the history of IPL.
Meanwhile, while collecting the trophy, Dhoni called Ambati Rayudu and Jadeja as the three of them shared the space with BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah. After which, Dhoni was spotted far behind as all the other players were celebrating - something the fans have seen a lot over the years.
Meanwhile, batting first, Gujarat Titans started really well as openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha gave the team a perfect start. After Gill got out, scoring 39 runs off 20 deliveries, Sai Sudharsan took control of the situation while Saha kept playing an aggressive brand of cricket, scoring 54 runs off 39 deliveries. After both openers were sent back to the pavilion, Sudharsan wreaked havoc, scoring 96 runs off 47 deliveries as the Hardik Pandya-led side posted 214 runs in the first innings.
When it came to the chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway looked in phenomenal touch. While batting at number three, Shivam Dube (32* runs off 21 deliveries) kept going and scored some very important runs for Chennai. Ajinkya Rahane (27 runs off 13 deliveries), Ambati Rayudu (19 runs off eight deliveries) and Jadeja (15* runs off six deliveries) later played brilliant cameos as the MS Dhoni-led side picked up a sensational win at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, Conway was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant innings of 47 runs off 25 deliveries.
On the other hand, Shubman Gill was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. The cricketer hit 890 runs in 17 matches and with that, he also won the Orange Cap of the recently concluded season.
