IPL 2024: Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir hug each other during timeout in RCB vs KKR clash

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 10 of Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Friday, March 29 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited RCB’s power-packed batting line up to bat first. Ahead of the match, the game was being seen as the face-off between Virat Kohli and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir as the duo have been at loggerheads with each other in past as well.

However, much to everyone’s surprise, Kohli and Gambhir were seen sharing a heartwarming hug during the strategic timeout. The incident took place at the end of the 16^th over as Gambhir walked out to the middle to discuss his team’s tactics. At the pitch, he met his former India teammate and the duo shared a heartwarming moment.

Notably, both Kohli and Gambhir were involved in a heated exchange during IPL 2023 Match 43 between Lucknow Super Giants and RCB. During the game, the RCB star had a go at LSG seamer Naveen ul Haq which irked the then LSG mentor, Gambhir prompting him to have a face-off with the star batter.

The incident immediately became the talk of the town forcing BCCI to come down heavily on all the parties involved and imposed a fine of 100% match fee on both Kohli and Gambhir. Earlier, during the 2013 season, the duo got involved in a heated exchange during the RCB vs KKR game as Gambhir, the KKR skipper gave a send-off to Kohli who was captaining RCB.

However, the scenes during the ongoing clash suggest that the duo have put their past behind them and have buried the hatchet. Meanwhile, Kohli continued his good form in IPL 2024 with a brilliant knock of 83* (59) against KKR. Courtesy of his knock, RCB posted a good score of 182/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
