It was a one-man demolition job when India hosted Australia for the second ODI as left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc produced a fast bowling masterclass to draw his side level in the three-match series. Following his ninth five-wicket haul in the 50-over format, Starc revealed the mantra that has brought him great success in white-ball cricket.

Mitchell Starc accounted for four of the top five Indian batters during a blistering opening spell with the new ball. His ability to bring back the delivery into the right-handers has been one of his greatest weapons in the shorter formats of the game, and the star pacer is not willing to compromise on that despite going for runs every once in a while.

"My plan hasn't changed for 13 years: bowl full, hit the stumps, try and swing it. That's been my role for a long time, to try and get wickets up front in the Powerplay. At times that means I'm probably more expensive, but I'm trying to bring in all modes of dismissal, so it's certainly not a new game plan these last two games. When you've got a powerhouse batting unit that India do have, if you can take wickets in the Powerplay it means we sort of control the game in some respects, which is what we did today," Star said, as quoted by ICC.

We've still got a chance to win a one-day series in India, which is pretty special: Starc

With Australia level in the three-match series, the 33-year-old has shifted his focus on the series decider in Chennai. Starc feels that winning the ongoing series against the home side will provide a big boost for the Australian team, who will be looking to reclaim the World Cup trophy later this year.

"We now move on to Chennai, where we've got a chance (in) the decider ... once we get past that game and then it's probably more of a focus on the World Cup. There's parts of this series where the World Cup will be in the back of your mind, but I think predominantly for this group, we've still got a chance to win a one-day series in India, which is pretty special," he added.
