In an unexpected turn of events, the Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir (CBMAK) has taken legal action against Sony Pictures Networks and Tramboo Sports Pvt. Ltd., the producers of 'Shark Tank India.' This move follows the airing of an episode on January 30, 2024, which has sparked a controversy in the cricket bat manufacturing industry.

CBMAK, recognised as the overarching body representing all cricket bat manufacturers in the Kashmir valley, vehemently deny the portrayal by Tramboo Sports as the exclusive producer of Kashmir willow cricket bats. The Association asserts that the statements made on the show have not only misled the public but have also inflicted substantial harm on the businesses of its members.

Expressing deep concern, CBMAK emphasised that these misrepresentations have delivered a severe blow to their bat sales and have cast a shadow on the reputation of the entire indigenous Kashmiri bat-making industry. The Association highlighted the superior quality of bats manufactured by its members and claims endorsement from various star cricketers who prefer and promote their products.

CBMAK is particularly taken aback by Tramboo Sports' claims during the January 30 episode, where the company allegedly presented itself as the sole manufacturer of Kashmir willow bats.

In response to these allegations, CBMAK has taken a legal stance by issuing a detailed notice demanding a public apology within 15 days from both Sony Pictures Networks and Tramboo Sports. Additionally, the Association is seeking compensation of one hundred crores for the damages, losses, and mental agony endured.

Tramboo Sports Pvt. Ltd. has responded, clarifying that the televised pitch on "Shark Tank India" was a brief excerpt from a more extended presentation, leading to misunderstandings. The company underlines its commitment to fostering business development and contributing to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As the legal battle unfolds, the cricket bat manufacturing industry watches closely, anticipating the resolution of this unexpected clash between CBMAK and the producers of 'Shark Tank India.'
