Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitch Marsh has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2024 with a hamstring injury. The 32-year-old suffered a tear in his right hamstring earlier in the tournament and flew back to Australia for further treatment. However, as things stand, the cricketer won’t be able to recover on time and has been ruled out of the tournament.

Notably, Marsh is poised to assume the role of the captain of the Australian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. It’s not clear when Marsh would be deemed fit to make his return but it’s likely for him to play in the mega tournament, which is slated to begin on June 1. The all-rounder may skip the practice matches to ensure he remains fit for the main round matches but nothing is certain yet.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals are yet to announce Marsh’s replacement. Previously, Jake Fraser-McGurk replaced Lungi Ngidi in DC and he has done a phenomenal job for the side. Keeping that in mind, DC can eye to sign a pace bowler, especially with Anrich Nortje out of form at the moment. Josh Hazlewood, who is a free agent at the moment, can be an excellent addition to the DC camp.

The Rishabh Pant-led side is currently eighth on the points table, with three wins in eight matches. To qualify for the playoffs, the franchise cannot afford to drop more points. Barring Fraser-McGurk, Pant and Tristan Stubbs, the batters have struggled to get going and that’s a major concern. To fight for a spot in the top four, the others have to contribute significantly.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep has been incredible with the ball along with Axar Patel but the pacers need to step up. In their last match, the bowlers leaked 266 runs in 20 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, With the bat, Delhi made 199 runs, losing the match by 67 runs.
