England won the T20 World Cup 2022 with a thrilling win over Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday (November 13). English bowlers continued their good run of form to restrict Pakistan to 137/8 while bowling first and then star all-rounder Ben Stokes smashed 52 runs off 49 balls to guide England to a five-wicket win with six balls remaining.
This is England's second T20 World Cup title win after lifting the famous trophy by beating Australia in the final of the 2010 edition in West Indies. England are now the current champions for ICC's both T20 and ODI World Cup tournaments.
Pakistan were impressive throughout the tournament despite losing the opening two Super 12 group stage matches. Bowlers gave their best while defending a low-score total but England's batters managed to survive any late comeback from Pakistan.
India's Virat Kohli dominated the tournament with four half-centuries and scored the highest 196 runs while Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga took 15 wickets from just eight innings. South African batter Rilee Rossow scored the highest individual score when he smashed 109 runs against Bangladesh.
