In Rajasthan Royals’ last match of the IPL 2023, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a sensational knock, scoring 124 runs off 62 deliveries against Mumbai Indians. Courtesy of his knock, the visiting team posted 212 runs after 20 overs but unfortunately, the Sanju Samson-led side ended up on the losing side as they suffered a six-wicket defeat.

Even so, the skipper was delighted for Jaiswal, who registered his maiden century in the cash-rich league. The 28-year-old mentioned that he was expecting such a knock from the Mumbai-born cricketer, especially after he hit 77 runs off 43 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings in their previous match against the Chennai Super Kings.

“Unluckily, Jaiswal ended up on the wrong side but very happy for him personally. I was expecting something special from Jaiswal. He scored 70-odd in the last game we always thought it (hundred) is round the corner,” Samson said in the post-match presentation.

Meanwhile, talking about their loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians on April 30, Samson stated that the results may have gone in the favour of the opponent teams at times but they have played good cricket overall.

“The way we have been playing either we have won or we have come close. Results do come here and there. We will keep focusing on the process. We will keep focus on the controllable. We will keep fighting hard,” he added

Speaking of Mumbai Indians, they needed 17 runs off the last over and thus, Rajasthan were the favourites until that point. However, Tim David smacked three back-to-back sixes off Jason Holder in the final over to help Mumbai clinch a sensational win at Wankhede Stadium. David ended up scoring 45* runs in just 14 deliveries while Suryakumar Yadav smashed 55 runs off 29 deliveries.

With that, Mumbai moved to number seven in the IPL Points Table while Rajasthan remained at number three. The five-time champions will next take on Punjab Kings while Rajasthan will host defending champions Gujarat Titans.
