WATCH: Chennai Super Kings' 1st Innings video highlights against SRH in Match 46 of IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings hosted the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 46th game of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the legendary M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. The visitors won the toss and opted to field first today as they intended to make the most of the dew factor in the second innings. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad made a significant change as they opted to play an extra batter in their playing XI and left out Mayank Markande. Meanwhile, the hosts played with the same team despite being winless in the past two games. 

Powerplay : CSK - 50/1 after 6 overs 

Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad started off the proceedings for the franchise. The former ended his tame innings after finding the fielder in the deep during the 3rd over. The skipper however kept the runs flowing as they ended the powerplay with 50 runs on the scoreboard.

CSK -Ruturaj Gaikwad's fiery spell

Ruturaj Gaikwad's fiery start against SRH bowlers helped CSK rwach 82 in just 9 overs. Daryl Mitchell once again came at number 3 and was offering good support to his captain, who looked in amazing touch today. The opener was able to reach his fifty inside 27 deliveries as he continued his good form.

CSK -  Shivam Dube's unstoppable six and Daryll Mitchell's 52 off 32 balls 

The duo completed their 100-run partnership and were looking good for a big total on the scoreboard. The New Zealand's Daryll Mitchell upped the ante and was scoring boundaries at will at this point. He notched up his first IPL fifty of the season and wanted to contribute more for the side in this game.

Mitchell’s blistering innings came to an end just after the strategic timeout as he mistimed his shot off the full toss. Shivam Dube joined Gaikwad at the crease and as expected the fireworks began as the duo completed the fifty run partnership in just 23 balls. Gaikwad was not able to get to his hundred as Natarjan got his wicket during the final over. MS Dhoni came out to bat during the final over but couldn’t deliver the big blows as the franchise ended at 212.
