Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan has burst onto the scene with his brilliant performances with the national team. Making his international debut for India, Sarfaraz Khan has played three Tests for India, where he has managed to amass 200 runs to his name with a high score of 68 runs.

However, Sarfaraz has faced a plethora of hardships on his road to success, and the star player has always had his father’s support. The Mumbai batter made a brilliant start to his career, and recently he highlighted how much of a guiding light his father has been for him. Recently, Sarfaraz recited a poem that his father often used to recite to inspire him during his domestic days.

“I would ask my father when I would get a chance to play for India and if there were people supporting us. He would tell me just one thing, and he would recite it,” Sarfaraz said while interacting at the India Today Conclave.

“Kabhi girte toh kabhi gir ke sambhalte rehte, Baithe rehne se acha tha ki chalte rehte, Aur chalke hum gair ke kadmo se kahin ke na rahe, Khud ke pairo se chalte toh chalte rehte,” Sarfaraz recited this inspirational poem.

Think as if you're playing for India in your next domestic match, score runs there as well: Sarfaraz

Furthermore, Sarfaraz Khan revealed what advice his father used to give him, and he revealed that his father said he should be treating the domestic matches as if he were playing for the Indian team.

“That's what he told me: I have to score runs if I play for India and think as if you're playing for India in your next domestic match and score runs there as well. So I only had one job, that was to score runs wherever I'm playing,” Sarfaraz Khan said.
