WPL 2024, Match 15: Delhi Capitals Women vs UP Warriorz Women Match Preview

The 15th match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 promises to be a mouth-watering clash between Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, March 8.

UP Warriorz have a tough schedule as they are going to face Mumbai Indians on Thursday before locking horns with Delhi. Alyssa Healy and Co. have two wins and three losses from five games so far. They have four points on the board. After starting with two defeats, Warriorz bounced back with back-to-back wins to resurrect their campaign. However, they were pegged back by Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last game, losing by 23 runs.

Meanwhile, it has been smooth sailing so far for the Capitals in WPL 2024. They are sitting at the top of the table, having won four and lost one of their five games. Their only defeat came in the season opener against Mumbai Indians. Since then, they have won four matches in a row and are brimming with confidence. Meg Lanning and Co. would love to continue their dominance and extend their winning streak.

UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals squared off earlier in the tournament in February. The Delhi-based franchise restricted Warriorz to 119/9 in their 20 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Marizanne Kapp finished with stunning figures of 3/5 in four overs. Radha Yadav also bagged a four-for. In reply, Delhi managed to register a comfortable nine-wicket win with 33 balls to spare as Lanning and Shafali Verma notched up half-centuries.

The first two games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium have been high-scoring encounters. The average first-innings score in the first two games is 196. Both games have been won by teams batting first. Delhi and UP have some swashbuckling batters in their ranks and would enjoy themselves if they get a similar pitch. Winning the toss and opting to bat first could be a nice ploy as scoreboard pressure could play a role for the chasing team. However, anything under 170 won't be competitive.
