India's top order hit fifties which were then followed by outstanding tons from Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul as the home side posted a mammoth 410/4 followed by a clinical bowling display that saw India defeat the Netherlands by a margin of 160 runs in the match number 45 of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore
India won the toss and chose to bat first. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a solid start, putting on a century-opening partnership. Gill was dismissed by Paul van Meekeren for 51, followed by Sharma who fell for 61 to Bas de Leede. Virat Kohli scored a half-century before being dismissed by van Meekeren. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer put together a record-breaking 208-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Iyer remained unbeaten on 128, with 10 fours and five sixes, while Rahul smashed a 62-ball century before becoming another victim of Leede. As a result, Team India finished with a mammoth total of 410/4 in their 50-over quota.
In response, the Netherlands lost Wesley Barresi early for just four runs. Thereafter, Max O'Dowd and Colin Ackermann tried steadying their ship with their 61-run stand, but Ackermann was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 35 runs, followed by O'Dowd for 30 runs. Scott Edwards scored 17 runs off 30 balls, while Sybrand Engelbrecht and Teja Nidamanuru scored 45 and 54 runs, respectively. The rest of the Netherlands batters were dismissed quickly, and the team was bowled out for 250 runs, giving India a 160-run victory. Shreyas Iyer was named the 'Player of the Match' for his unbeaten (128 off 94) century knock.
