Cricketing fraternity wishes India's current best off-spinner Ravi Ashwin on his 32nd birthday

There is a lot of argument on who is India’s best spinner currently. No matter how much people argue, no one can deny the fact Ravi Ashwin wins this battle hands down. With 327 wickets to his name only in 62 Test matches, the off-spinner has come a long way after making his international debut in 2010. Ashwin is celebrating his 32nd birthday today and the cricketing fraternity has showered praises on him while wishing him on the special occasion.

He was recently in England participating in the five-match Test series against the home team and fared decently when many didn’t give him a chance. The birthday boy began the series with seven wickets at Edgbaston but somehow tailed away as the series progressed. There were fitness concerns over him as well which eventually hurt Team India in Southampton and finally he had to miss the final Test match.

But Ashwin is a fighter and ever since his stakes as the spinner outside the sub-continent were questioned, he added more variations to his kitty and came back strongly.

Limited-overs career

Ravi Ashwin hasn’t been able to play in the coloured clothing for India for more than a year now. The emergence of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav has left no place for him in the team but he is confident of making a comeback. He has 150 wickets in 111 ODIs and though Ashwin doesn’t have a single five-wicket haul in this format, the offie has contributed in every possible manner.

Even in the shortest format, Ashwin is a potent bowler and has an economy rate of under seven while picking 52 wickets in 46 games. It remains to be seen if he will be included in the World Cup squad but his place in the Test team is never questioned. The birthday boy will now be keen to make it count in the upcoming home series against Windies and then torment the Aussies down under later this year.
