The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The opening Test between Australia and Pakistan got underway at the Gabba in Brisbane. The visitors’ decision to bat first worked out well for them as they were 75/0 at one stage. Shan Masood and skipper Azhar Ali looked determined in the middle. But the sudden collapse meant that Pakistan were reduced to 94/5. Asad Shafiq and Yasir Shah added 84 for the seventh wicket, but the Aussies shot their opponent out for 240 in 86.2 overs.

Shafiq top-scored with 76 off 134 with seven fours. Mitchell Starc finished with four wickets for the hosts. After the day’s play, RP Singh, the former Indian pacer, couldn’t believe how Pakistan threw away a good start. New Zealand and England also fought it out in the opening Test at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. At the end of the first day’s play, the visitors went at a steady pace and scored 241/4 in their 90 overs. Joe Denly, Ben Stokes and opener Rory Burns scored half-centuries. Stokes is unbeaten on 67 runs.

Dominic Sibley, the right-handed batsman from Surrey, made his Test debut and he was praised on breaking into the England Test setup. The pin-ball Test between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata is set to get underway on November 22. In the lead up to the epic contest, the Indian players posted pictures, expressing their eagerness to take part in the encounter.
