Cricketing Trends on Social Media Today

CSK were set to kick off their pre-season camp on Friday for the upcoming IPL edition in the UAE. However, as per reports, the franchise has now delayed the camp as several members from the CSK contingent have tested positive for COVID-19.

As per reports,12 members of CSK support staff and one fast bowler reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. Twitter was flooded with tweets about the same as many people hoped for their speedy recovery. It’s a huge blow for CSK as well as IPL 2020, considering the scenario in which the tournament is being hosted.

Considering the COVID-19 situation across the globe, every IPL franchise was asked to stay in a bio-security bubble during their two-month IPL journey. All eight franchises have been staying in different hotels post their arrival in the UAE.

The BCCI is expected to release the full schedule at the end of August and CSK will have no option but to stay away from outdoor training until the situation subsides. The news certainly has raised questions over the feasibility of the much-awaited league.

Meanwhile, many fans and players expressed their excitement over the start of the T20I series between England and Pakistan. The Men in Green, led by run-machine Babar Azam, will be hoping to retaliate and clinch the T20I series. The first T20I between England and Pakistan is slated to start from August 28th at Old Trafford. Wishes also poured in for Sri Lanka speedster Lasith Malinga as he celebrated his 37th birthday.
