The historic India-Pakistan clash at the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 is less than a week away. Both the camps are training hard and desperate to begin their campaign on a winning note. While India won their first warm-up game quite comprehensively against the Blackcaps, Pakistan had to sweat it out against Bangladesh. But a great and miraculous run-chase against the Tigers will boost their confidence.

Under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistani fans are hopeful for a spirited show by the entire roster. The holy month of Ramadan has started and the Pakistani have subsequently started praying for their favorite team’s victory. Speaking to www.geo.tv, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed said that his team will fast, as per the rituals, on the rest days when there won’t be any match to play.

Geo TV’s reporter Yahya Hussaini told him that it is believed that the prayers of people during the ICC World Cup 1992 didn’t go a waste as Pakistan won their debut World Cup title under the leadership of Imran Khan. Sarfraz acknowledged the fact and said that the prayers play a great part in the team’s success.

He further added “This is an out-of-the-ground matter. We will try to perform well inside the field. It is the holy month of Ramadan. With the fans back in Pakistan and those in England praying for us, we will work hard in the field. I hope that the hard work pays off.”

Pakistan team will fast on rest days

When Hussaini asked him about his preparations on the fasting aspect for the month of Ramadan, he said that the team will fast on rest-days. “It will be hard to fast during the matches. It will be a 50-over game and one has to put in full effort. But we will definitely try to fast on the rest-days or the practice days,” was his honest answer. Pakistan will begin their campaign against India on 4th June at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
