Former Windies skipper Darren Sammy has joined his IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab at Mohali and might be seen in action pretty soon. The veteran all-rounder who was bought at Rs. 30 lakhs in the 2017 IPL auctions hasn’t been with the team till now. The franchise was reluctant to give out the official reason behind his absence as Sammy trained with his franchise at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Sammy led his nation to two World T20 triumphs in 2012 and 2016 and despite his achievements, he was removed from his post following their World T20 triumph in 2016. Sammy continues to play various T20 leagues all across the world and is a pretty important player for any team he plays. His all-round ability lends the much-needed stability in the team.

Meanwhile, Kings XI, Punjab is going through a topsy-turvy season and have won only 4 out of the 7 matches played so far. They began with impressive wins in the first two matches but was handed 3 defeats on a trot following that. They were thoroughly outplayed in all 3 departments but they bounced back strongly and came back to winning ways with a comprehensive win against the Gujarat Lions.

Sammy might well be seen in action in the later stages of the tournament at the expense of Marcus Stoinis who had pretty mediocre outings in this season so far. With Sammy’s hard-hitting abilities he might well be drafted in the XI for the next game against the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday.

Mumbai Indians are currently sitting at the top of the points table with 6 wins from 8 and certainly look like the team who might go all the way. They are followed closely by Kolkata Knight Riders who have already registered 5 wins from 7 matches. They also created history on the other day against RCB when the KKR bowlers bowled a star-studded RCB for a mere 49 runs.
