Former Indian batter Virender Sehwag irked netizens with his ‘distasteful’ remarks on Virat Kohli’s dance on Day 3 of the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test match between England and India being played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Kohli was seen dancing on the ground after the dismissal of England wicketkeeper Sam Billings.
Sehwag, who is with the Hindi commentary team for the Test match, can be heard saying ‘Chamiya naach rahi hai waha’ on the live telecast. His words didn’t go down well with fans as they have shown their anger on social media platforms.
One of the Twitter users wrote, “Sehwag used a slur that’s offensive. It’s not about who he said it to, it’s that the word he used is derogatory to a community that deserves just as much respect and fair treatment in society as any Kohli does. See the bigger picture and don’t protect him because he’s a legend”.
Mohammed Siraj got the better of Sam Billings
Talking about Billings innings, the right-handed batter played excellently for his 36 runs off 57 balls, smashing four boundaries. However, right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj got the better of Billings by rattling the stumps.
Siraj also took the big wicket of former England skipper Joe Root and helped his side to clean up the lower batting order of England by scalping the wickets of Stuart Broad and Matty Potts. He bowled a total of 11.3 overs and scalped four wickets, conceding 66 runs.
Meanwhile, the visitors have gained command in the ongoing game and the visitors need to put up a special show to script a comeback. Having earned a first-innings lead of 132 runs, India finished Day 3 at 125/3 and would like to extend their tally even further on the fourth day. Not to forget, India are 2-1 up in the five-match series and the hosts require nothing but a win to square the affair 2-2.
