The ODI series between England and Australia turned out to be one-sided as the Brits annihilated their opponents by 5-0. The visitors had their fair share of chances to get Eoin Morgan and Co by the scruff of their necks, but the hosts managed to unravel themselves ever other time. The Aussies bowling looked toothless and the English batsmen took full toll of the lackluster show.

The series now moves to the only T20I to be played tomorrow at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. Amidst their shambolic run of form, the Men in Yellow can take heart from the fact that they won their previous T20I series back in February, which also involved the Poms.  However, they are yet to win at the venue having played twice while their opponents are unbeaten at the same stadium.

Aaron Finch, who will lead the Yellow Army in the match, needs to pull off something extraordinary to humble the might of the home team. Finch’s men will be desperate on eke out a win and end the series on a positive note. On the contrary, England will look to thrash their rivals and close out the tour in a thumping manner.

Pitch Conditions

Being the solitary match, the track is expected to be batting friendly and the audience can expect for some enthralling cricket. The conditions will be nice and cool and comfort-wise the players won’t be facing any issues. The sun will be out and an exciting match is in the offing.

Team Combination

England

With the likes of Jonathan Bairstow, Alex Hales, and Jason Roy in the top order, their batting has no shortage of firepower. Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler’s unflinching style of play also need to come to the fore. In the bowling department, either of Chris Jordan or David Willey may play. The spin duo of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid will wish to replicate their form in the shortest format.

Predicted XI

Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (C), Jos Buttler (WK), Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Chris Jordan/David Willey, Tom Curran

Australia

Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short are the openers. Nic Maddinson is the new entrant into the team. Travis Head moves down to the middle-order after the ODI matches. Glenn Maxwell will be itching to do well and get back into form and same for Marcus Stoinis who didn’t have an overwhelming campaign thus far. The bowling combination will more or less be the same from the 50-over fixtures.

Predicted XI

Aaron Finch (C), D’Arcy Short, Nic Maddinson, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (WK), Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Ashton Agar, Kane Richardson

Probable Top Performers
