Fabian Allen takes the catch of CPL 2017 with a diving stunner on the ropes

Fabian Allen was not even a part of the starting eleven for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the game against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Despite that, he ended up grabbing most of the headlines during the course of the game. Fielding as a substitute fielder on the ropes, Allen grabbed a stunning catch to leave the fans and the commentators bamboozled.

The catch was never in the reach of the running boundary rider. However, a last moment jump, which was timed to perfection, saw the outstretched hands of Allen complete a magnificent catch. The action perspired during the Guyana Amazon Warriors run chase in the match 4 of the Caribbean Premier League 2017. Bowling in the 17th over, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots pace bowler Hasan Ali ran in hard to provide a big breakthrough to the team.

The wicket would not have been complete without his superlative effort. On the first ball of the over, Hasan Ali bowled a fullish delivery to the set batsman Jason Mohammed. Mohammed went through with a free-flowing shot and slashed hard at the ball. The ball went flying in the direction of the deep extra cover region. The fielder placed there, Fabian Allen, came in running from the cover boundary region.

He managed to pluck out the ball out of thin air as he stretched his hands and caught the ball whilst airborne. He did an exceptional work in flowing through with the dive. He got up on his feet very quickly. The amused smile on the face of the bowler, Hasan Ali, explained it all. With the catch, Jason Mohammed had to walk back after scoring a run-a-ball 41 in the game.

In the match, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots registered a narrow 4 run win. They have won two matches this season – and both of them coming against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
