Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir shares great camaraderie with his Indian teammate Suresh Raina. The two cricketers have often been seen praising one another at various events. Also, they have had some healthy conversations on the social media as well, which has been there for all to see. Recently, another such message was on display when Gautam Gambhir sent birthday wishes for Suresh Raina.

Raina turned 31 on November 27 this year. The hard-hitting southpaw received birthday wishes from the cricket fraternity on his special day. However, the birthday wish of his good friend Gambhir was missing. Gambhir missed the chance to wish Raina on the actual date but did not fail to send his regards anyway.

Gambhir posted a tweet for Raina a day after the latter’s birthday. In his birthday wish, he even justitfied the belated wishes. The way Gambhir reasoned out why he sent the wishes late is a cricket fan’s delight. He cheekily quoted that in cricket even the openers are sometimes sent to bat down the order. And hence, is the delay here.

Here is the tweet:

“Belated happy birthday @ImRaina…some match situations require even opening batsmen to ‘bat’ lower down in d batting order, hence d delay buddy!!! Hope u had a smashing one,” tweeted Gautam Gambhir.

Commenting on the recent form of the two cricketers, both players have had similar fortunes. They are fighting hard to earn a place back in the national side. While Gambhir is having a decent outing in the Ranji Trophy this year for Delhi thus far, Raina’s struggle with the bat is evident for all to see. Raina has failed to score big runs for his team Uttar Pradesh and desperately needs to step up his game in a bid to make a statement ahead of the South Africa series.
