A shocking incident took place at the KIIT cricket ground on Monday when former Delhi captain Gautam Gambhir verbally assaulted team coach KP Bhaskar in the dressing room at the end of the Vijay Hazare Cricket tournament on Monday.

The shameful incident shocked the whole Delhi team and Bhaskar who is in his first season as coach of a team he captained once was left extremely embarrassed.

Reportedly The left-handed batsman targeted Bhaskar, who is known for his friendly behaviour on and off the field with personal insults using foul and threatening language.

A Delhi star quoted the sportstar “The unfortunate incident here obviously marks a new low in Delhi cricket and demands a disciplinary inquiry from the DDCA and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well.”

“Is Gambhir not supposed to be a role model being a World Cup winner?”

It seems that Gambhir is annoyed by the appointment of Bhaskar as Delhi coach ahead of his preferred candidate but the real reason for the outburst is still unknown.

The former India opener was also unhappy when the Delhi and District Cricket Association appointed Ajay Jadeja in place of Vijay Dahiya last year.

This is not the first time Gambhir has been involved in spats with senior cricketers. Earlier he was involved in arguments with Chetan Chauhan, Hari Gidwani and Venkat Sundaram.

Reports say that Gambhir made fun of Bhaskar’s cricket credentials and also took a dig at his son Ruushil Bhaskar who has played junior cricket for Delhi and Haryana.

Recently Rishabh Pant took over as Delhi captain as Gautam Gambhir was sacked of the role as Delhi wanted to focus on the future.

Delhi did not have a good time in the Ranji as they failed to make it to the knockout stages but they did manage to win the North Zone T20 league. As far as the Vijay Hazare tournament is concerned Delhi finished fourth in the group which was far below their expectation.

Gambhir’s performances were instrumental in Delhi’s triumph in the Ranji Trophy in 2008 and Delhi has not made it to the final ever since.

A veteran star quoted “Normally we all shake hands at the end of the last match of the season. This is unprecedented, the senior-most player abusing the senior-most person in the dressing room”
