After having been ruled out of action with a shoulder injury, Shaun Marsh will not be able to take part in the County season this time around for Glamorgan. However, the latter has gone ahead and roped in Joe Burns as Marsh’s replacement. Burns, who is viewed by many as a like-for-like replacement for the 34-year old Marsh is expected to be confirmed as the replacement sometime soon.

Burns will be roped in to take part in the new T20 competition Glamorgan will be a part of. Recent reports suggest that Marsh had to fly back home with a shoulder injury. As far as the agreement with Burns goes, he will have to take the flight back home ahead of Queensland’s campaign for the JLT Cup, something that will ensure that he will not be available for the entire season of the English domestic T20 tournament.

Burns left out of the India tour

Already a part of the Glamorgan side is southpaw Usman Khawaja who will depart for Australia ‘A’ tour of India. The tour will witness the likes of Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, and Mitchell Marsh, all of whom featured for the Aussies in the Wanderers Test match against South Africa.

Burns enjoyed a breakout T20 campaign for the Brisbane Heat last summer, scoring more than 200 runs in seven games in the middle order at an impressive strike rate of 142.

However, despite these exploits, Burns was not considered by Cricket Australia for a contract renewal in April. He will continue to play for Queensland in the domestic circuit in the meantime.
