Hazlewood and Rabada make impressive gains in the latest ICC Rankings

Fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada of South Africa and Josh Hazlewood of Australia have achieved their career-best rankings in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings courtesy their brilliant performances for their respective nations in the Cape Town and Sydney Tests respectively. While the Aussie speedster has moved up two places to the 3rd place courtesy a match haul of 7/94 in the final Test at Sydney against Pakistan, Rabada has gained 9 slots and has rocketed to the eighth position. He finished with match figures of 10/92 in the 2nd Test at Cape Town against the Islanders Sri Lanka.

While Hazlewood has gained 29 points to reach 860 and is not far behind the Indian spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Rabada has gained 144 points to reach 796. He is just 7 rating points behind English speedster Stuart Broad. While the bowlers have gained, the batsmen from both Australia and South Africa aren’t far behind.

While Khawaja has climbed two slots to 11th after his 13 and 79* in the final Test against Pakistan, Peter Handscomb have rocketed to the 38th position, gaining 17 slots courtesy his brilliant century in the 1st innings of the final Test followed by an unbeaten 40 in the 2nd essay. South African Dean Elgar who scored a magnificent century in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka climbed 11 places to reach the 21st position. While Elgar scored 129 in the 1st innings, the stylish southpaw chipped in with a 55 in the 2nd essay.
