Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been a prolific performer for his country since he made his debut in 2015. The right-handed batter has played several match-winning knocks for his country and has been very consistent with the bat. As a result, the debate about Babar being part of the famous ‘Fab Four’ is growing stronger with each passing day.

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has now opined that the Pakistani skipper should be named in the elite list, which includes some of the modern-day greats including Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson. The above-mentioned players have been match-winners for their respective countries and have been very consistent with the bat across all three formats.

Bit too early to say if he can be in the Fab 4: Harbhajan Singh

It may be noted that captain Babar has an average of 45+ across all three formats of the game and under his captaincy, Pakistan went on to beat their arch-rivals India in World Cup for the very first time.

“I think it is a bit too early to say if he can be in the Fab 4. I don’t even know who is in the Fab 4. But Babar has the quality, he is a proper batsman with so much confidence and technique. Going forward he will be one of the legends of cricket. But now it’s too early to put him in any league,” Harbhajan said during a conversation with Sportskeeda.

“Let him play and keep on scoring more runs and winning games for his team. And talent-wise he is no less than anyone else,” he said.

The right-handed batter has so far represented Pakistan in 40 Tests, 86 ODIs, and 74 T20Is. To note, Babar is the only player to be part of the top five in all ICC ranking charts. He is at the top spot in the limited-overs format and is ranked fifth in the longest format of the game.
