Dinesh Karthik once again carried out the rescue act for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with his middle-order exploits during their IPL 2022 clash against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 16. His blistering knock of an unbeaten 66 runs from 34 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 194.1 propelled RCB to a stiff total of 189/5.

Meanwhile, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter has reacted to a banner that was carried by a die-hard fan of the Bengaluru-based franchise which read “Drove 1000 kms for you RCB !!!’ and also the team slogan “EE SALA CUP NAMDE!!’ The image of the passionate cricket buff’s love for RCB went viral in no time.

Dinesh Karthik has a heartwarming message for an RCB fan

After the viral image came to Dinesh Karthik’s notice, he took to his official Twitter handle, shared the same, and wrote, “Hope the drive was worth it.”

Dinesh Karthik is having a dream run in the ongoing IPL 2022. He has so far amassed 197 runs from six matches averaging 197 and a strike rate of 209.57. In fact, the Tamil Nadu cricketer has remained unbeaten on five of those six occasions. Karthik has proven to be a match-winner as well as a finisher for Bangalore and he would be hoping to continue his splendid run when RCB face the Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 19.

Coming back to the contest, David Warner toyed around with the Bangalore bowlers chasing 190. He scored a quickfire 38-ball 66 and looked unstoppable. However, a needless switch hit attempt in the 12th over led to his downfall as he was caught plumb in front of the wicket by Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. Skipper Rishabh Pant then took the matters into his hands and tried to make a statement in the middle overs to match up with the steep asking rate. It was all over for DC once he was dismissed for 34 and they were eventually restricted to 173/7 as RCB registered a 16-run win.
