Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo had taken a swipe against Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after he was excluded from the T20 set-up days before the Asia Cup. BCB’s cricket operations chairman, Jalal Yunus, has hit back at the South African’s remark and has asked for clarification over his accusation of outside interference in the team.

Domingo was axed as Bangladesh won just 19 out of 46 T20Is under him. He had caused a stir after stating that the board members scold them at every step making them inept at thinking and making decisions on their own. Meanwhile, Yunus has also asked Domingo to come up with the names of the people he is trying to accuse of such practices in the team. He also revealed that the board will look into it and will take a decision after discussing it with the president of the board.

“Who does this, and why doesn’t he come up with names? How is it possible to scream at a player? He said cricket director, and it could be me because he did not mention team director (Khaled Mahmud) and I feel he wanted to say, team director. He is still our contracted coach, and that is the reason he cannot talk like that against the board or any officials. We will discuss it among ourselves because we have seen it today and after discussing it with our president and others we will take a decision but we will definitely look into it,” Yunus said.

The BCB chairman also stated that a letter will be issued to Domingo to shed more light on the events as the board wants to get to the end of the matter before discussing it any further and making any decisions. Bangladesh will be up against Afghanistan in Sharjah on August 30 in their opening fixture of 2022 Asia Cup under Sridharan Sriram, the newly-appointed technical T20 director.

“I feel a letter needs to be issued to him to know what he really meant because if he clarifies then we can understand where he is having a problem. This is not like any show cause letter but we would like to know and I can say further only after discussing,” he added.
