'I never sold my country for money' - Danish Kaneria and Faisal Iqbal engage in war of words on Twitter

Danish Kaneria’s social media appearance has increased recently. He has his own youtube channel where he expresses views on cricket. However, Kaneria doesn’t back down from having a war of words with anyone on social media. On Wednesday, former Pakistan cricketers Faisal Iqbal and Kaneria engaged in a war of words.

A YouTuber uploaded a video of Danish Kaneria sledging former West Indian legend Brian Lara. After getting sledged, Lara hit Kaneria for three back to back sixes along with a four on the fourth ball. After seeing this video on Twitter, former Pakistan batsman Faisal Iqbal replied to the tweet recalling the incident as he was the 12th man in that Test match.

That match was Lara’s second last Test match. Lara went on to score a fantastic double century in that match, showing his class to everyone.

After seeing the tweet from Iqbal, Danish Kaneria didn’t want to back down. He replied asking Iqbal to check his stats first. He also told to talk about the matches in which Kaneria took Pakistan to a win. “Look who is talking about cricket Please check you stats first. Also mention other matches that I have won. By the way, @BrianLara was a legendary cricketer. I respect him a lot”, the former leg-spinner tweeted.

After reading the spinner’s response, Faisal then went on and called Kaneria a fixer and liar. He said that he has always tried to gain fake sympathy by using the religion card. “Better than a FIXER and a LIAR stats.. who sold his soul for year’s in GREED and now trying to gain a FAKE sympathy by playing Religion card 24/7!! Proudly wore this on my chest and proud of my all around stats at least they are CLEAN!!”, Iqbal tweeted.

Iqbal was talking about Kaneria’s alleged association with spot-fixing scandals in the English county cricket. Recently, Kaneria had also revealed that he was discriminated by the Pakistan teammates as he was the only Hindu player in the side. Kaneria said that he never sold the pride of his nation for money. He also referenced to players who have been caught for fixing but still playing cricket for Pakistan.
