Talking about the way the series between India and Australia unfolded, the hosts dominated the major chunk of the series. They started off with a crucial win in the first ODI at Chennai which was a rain-curtailed effort. In the second ODI, Kuldeep Yadav bagged a historic hat-trick to see the Indian team take the 2-0 lead.

In the third ODI, played at Indore, it was Hardik Pandya’s brilliance that saw India home with an unassailable lead in the series. Coming to the fourth ODI in Bengaluru, the crowds witnessed a high scoring game. Unfortunately for the home fans, the hosts lost the match by 21 runs. In the final ODI, which was played at Nagpur, the Indian team sealed the series with 7 wickets in hand.

This meant they won the series 4-1. The added incentive that the team got was in the form of the ICC rankings where they jumped to the number one spot.
