India likely to rest marquee players for T20I series against New Zealand

The Indian side will be led by Rohit Sharma for the T20I series against New Zealand.

Soon after the 2021 T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team will clash with New Zealand at home in a three-match T20I series. This series is scheduled to commence on 17th November 2021.

And, several marquee players, including batting legend Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja are all set to be rested for the series against the Kiwis.

The squad for India’s T20I series against New Zealand is expected to be named on 8th November 2021. The Indian side will be led by Rohit Sharma for this T20I series, and there are also rumours that Kohli might be removed as the ODI captain as well, with Sharma taking over the reins of the Indian side in limited-overs cricket.

Hardik Pandya is likely to be dropped for the T20I series against New Zealand

Also, all-rounder Hardik Pandya might be dropped from the Indian squad, and Venkatesh Iyer might be given a chance to prove his worth against the Kiwis. And, the three spinners who are likely to be picked are Varun Chakravarthy, Rahul Chahar, and left-arm spinner Axar Patel.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who won the Orange Cap award in the 2021 edition of the IPL is also likely to be drafted into the squad, while the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan will also be given a chance to prove their worth.

Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj might also get a chance in the T20I series against the Kiwis. Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will select the batting, bowling as well as the fielding coaches as well.

The Indian cricket team is already out of contention of the semifinal race in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and his men will play their final match of the tournament on 8th November 2021 against the Namibia side.
