Australia have finally taken avenge over India for halting their 16-Test matches winning streak twice and their 19 consecutive ODI wins at home, the longest streaks ever in history by ending India’s dream unbeaten run of 19 Tests and 20 Tests at home.

On a turning track, at Pune Australia set a huge target of 441 in the fourth innings with the help of a lucky yet brilliant century from their skipper Steven Smith. India could last only more than a session as the match was wrapped up inside three days with India seeing a new low in their batting performance at home.

5 – Steven Smith now has scored at least one century in 5 consecutive Tests against India, he is the first player to do so vs India. Overall, he is the 5th player to score a ton in 5 consecutive Tests against an opposition. Don Bradman (vs England) is the only player to have a ton in 6 consecutive Tests against a single opposition.

5.83 – Steve O’Keefe’s bowling average is this game. His 12-wicket haul is the 5th cheapest in Test cricket, 2nd cheapest in 100 years, 2nd cheapest by a spinner and the most economical for an Australian.

6/35 – Steve O’Keefe’s figures in both innings of the game are 6/35. These are the highest identical bowling figures by a player in a Test match. BS Chandrasekhar took 6/52 in both innings vs Australia in 1977/78 at MCG.

19 – Number of consecutive Test matches before this game India played without a loss. This was India’s longest unbeaten streak in Tests with the last loss coming in 2015 August at Galle vs Sri Lanka.

212 – India’s aggregate in this Test match is their lowest in Test history at home and the 4th lowest overall. Previous lowest at home was 247 at Chennai in 1977vs England.

333 – Margin of loss in runs for India in this Test, the 4th biggest loss for them in Tests and the 2nd biggest at home in terms of runs. Their biggest loss is 342 runs at Nagpur in 2004 also vs Australia.

444 – Number of balls India batted in this Test match, the 3rd lowest in their Test history and the lowest at home. Previous lowest at home was 659 balls at Mumbai in 2004 also vs Australia.

2008 – Last time an Indian captain before Virat Kohli in this Test aggregated 13 or fewer runs in a home Test after getting out in both innings was Anil Kumble (5 runs) in 2008 at Ahmedabad against South Africa.

2012 – Last time India lost a Test at home was in 2012 vs England at Kolkata. Since then they went unbeaten in 20 Tests including wins in 17 of those.
