With cricket in both India and Bangladesh considered more than just a sport, things seem to be looking upwards when it comes to playing a match in these two places. However, while there are a lot of things one needs to keep in mind, the fact of the matter remains that the BCCI is in somewhat of a spot of bother given the recent crackdown by the Supreme Court of India.

This has seen many venues and cricket associations across the country having problems with paying their staff and such. However, in spite of all this these boards have been hosting matches, something that has been burning a massive hole in their pockets.

At this point in time, some of the matches seem to be in jeopardy as there is simply no money available. One of these matches that are causing a potential issue is the one-off Test between India and Bangladesh. In the fall of 2016, the Indian-based cricket board had agreed to play a bilateral series against Bangladesh.

There was also a point when there was speculation of a bilateral rivalry which was to be called the Durjoy-Ganguly Trophy. However, while all these things have indeed seen a massive overflow of cricket fans, the Hyderabad Cricket Association is unlikely to host the match.

The schedule was built in such a manner that the Indians would face up to the might of the Bangladeshis on the eighth of February at the Hyderabad Cricket Association ground in Uppal. However, lack of funds has seen the HPCA seem an unlikely venue meaning that the Eden Gardens in Kolkata could be viewed as a potential venue for the Test match.

The venue has played host to a mere 3 Tests in the last seven years and its last international match was the ODI against Sri Lanka in 2014, which the hosts won by 6 wickets. India have won two of the three Tests played at the ground, while the other one finished in a draw.
