A thoroughly clinical performance from the team India saw the visitors give up meekly in the final match of their tour. The men in blue were absolutely brutal in their approach in all the three departments in the final T20I at Bengaluru. The series perhaps summed up the entire story of the English tour thus far. They were beaten, humiliated and bruised at the end of it.

With a 75-run defeat in the final match, England will move out of the Indian soil with a 2-1 loss in the T20 series. Coming into the final match, the scores were 1-1 and everything was at stake for the decider. The stage was set at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as England opted to field after winning the toss.

Magnificent fifties from MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina combined with a quick hand from Yuvraj Singh helped India post a mammoth 202/6 on the board. England started off well with Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan and Joe Root getting starts. However, it was all a little too much for them to handle. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bagged his career best 6/25 in his quota of 4 overs to see England bundled out for a paltry 127 on the board. While the team performance was there for everybody to take notice of, here we have the individual player ratings for team India in the match:

Virat Kohli – 3/10

Team India skipper Virat Kohli’s poor run in the T20 series continued. Coming to his second self-proclaimed second home, Bengaluru, a lot was expected from the Indian skipper. However, Kohli failed to get among the runs yet again.

He was a tad unlucky on the day and was involved in a run out that saw him walk out for just 2 runs. He was good with his captaincy though. He made frequent bowling changes that helped India ensure key breakthroughs at regular intervals.

KL Rahul – 2/10

After being the pillar stone of the Indian innings in the last match, KL Rahul came in with a lot of promise on the day. The fact that it was his home ground made it all the way more special for the elegant batsman. Rahul started off well as he hit a six and two boundaries to confirm his ominous touch with the bat.

However, he could not make the most out of the start that he got. He was dismissed on 22 by Ben Stokes as he consumed 18 balls for his effort. Considering the batting friendly conditions, he could have done a lot better.

Suresh Raina – 8/10

Suresh Raina was the pick of the Indian batsmen in the match. The veteran southpaw showed why he is regarded as one of the best T20 players in the world. He took the counter attack to the English bowlers after India lost two quick wickets.

Raina put the bowlers on the backfoot in the middle overs. He scored 63 off mere 45 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes to give substance to the Indian innings.

MS Dhoni – 8/10

MS Dhoni’s contribution to the Indian innings was as vital as that of Suresh Raina. Dhoni showed glimpses of vintage MS Dhoni as he muscled his way to his maiden fifty in the shortest format of the game. He perished in the last over in his attempt to give India a flying finish.

Dhoni smashed 56 off just 36 balls with 5 fours and a couple of maximums. The kind of form the former skipper is showing, the men in blue must be feeling very confident at the moment.

Yuvraj Singh – 7/10

The scorecard might show just 27 runs against the name of Yuvraj Singh. But, his knock was more than just that. The veteran batsman was in an absolute carnage mode as he stepped in to bat.

He stayed at the crease for just 10 deliveries but wreaked havoc during his short stay. He hammered 3 sixes and a four to power his way to 27. His knock gave the much-needed impetus needed by the hosts in the slog overs.

Rishabh Pant – 3/10

Young batsman Rishabh Pant has managed to carve a name for himself in very short span of time. He got drafted into the playing eleven on the day as he made his international debut. He walked into the game coming with the reputation of a big-time hitter.

Pant did not get to face a lot of deliveries, though. He scored an unbeaten 5 off 3 but showed a lot of maturity and content during the game. Despite being a wicketkeeper, the Delhi batsman was agile on the field too.

Hardik Pandya – 4/10

Hardik Pandya gave the finishing momentum to India with the bat. The Baroda all-rounder came into bat in the final over after the dismissal of MS Dhoni. He had four balls to negotiate. He cleared his intentions straight away as he lofted the very first ball that he faced. He did not get the intended result, though.

On the next delivery, he managed to get it an inch better and hit a maximum to take India past the 200-run mark. He scored 11 off 4 deliveries. With the ball, he bowled a couple of overs and gave away 17 runs with no wickets to show in front of his name.

Amit Mishra – 6/10

While Yuzvendra Chahal kept picking wickets, the senior leggie in the team, Amit Mishra, provided the right support to him. It would not be wrong to claim that Mishra helped in choking the English batting with economical overs.

In the four overs that he bowled, he gave away just 23 runs with an economy under 6. He also dismissed the danger man Jason Roy that put the English innings to a standstill earlier in the game.

Yuzvendra Chahal – 9.5/10

For the strict master that one is, it is only unfair to say that Chahal did not deserve a perfect 10 for his bowling in the Bengaluru T20I. Bowling on his IPL franchise’s home ground, Chahal ripped through the opposition batting to scalp 6 wickets in the match.

He started off by dismissing Sam Billings for a golden duck in the second over of the match. He then dismissed the set batsman Joe Root for 42 and capped off Eoin Morgan on 40. Then, he made a mockery of the middle order to finish with figures of 6/25. An economy of just over six sees him lose half a point in the ratings.

Ashish Nehra – 7/10

The 37-year-old left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra bowled with rigor upfront with the new ball. Nehra, who had bagged 3 wickets in the last game, bowled a maiden first up to set the tone for the things that perspired in the overs to follow.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Nehra’s maiden put pressure on the English openers that helped Chahal dismiss Sam Billings in the second over. Nehra was given a total of 3 overs to bowl on the day. He was taken away for 24 runs in his spell.

Jasprit Bumrah – 8/10

Jasprit Bumrah continued his merry run with the ball. The man who singlehandedly won the last T20I for India continued to bowl the right lines yet again. He scalped 3 wickets to wrap up the English innings on 127.

In the 2.3 overs that he bowled, he gave just 14 runs. The visitors were seen playing him with utmost care as he made them look midgets on the day. Bumrah’s death bowling continues to be his strong point in the shortest format of the game.
