The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) today revealed that the money-spinning auction for the upcoming 10th season of the Indian Premier League will take place in Bengaluru in the second week of December. This news comes as a breather to all the cricket and the players as well who were in jitters over the possibility of the tournament taking place this year.

There was a lot of uncertainty about the possibility of the IPL 10 due to the ongoing BCCI versus Lodha Committee legal battle. Ajay Shirke, BCCI, has stated that the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League is in jeopardy of being hosted given the fact that the Lodha panel has put a freeze on the funds available for the board.

Last month the committee tied up the apex cricketing board’s financial freedom after it froze their bank accounts and threatened to cut short the New Zealand, which was then underway. Similarly, the upcoming Test series against England was also in jeopardy due to the same issue.

Speaking about the Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to take place in April 2017, Shirke said, “The 2017 Indian Premier League is in danger. We have no idea whether it’s happening. How can it happen? We’ve already conveyed the details to the Committee on what needs to be done. There’s a long list that we sent to them on the work that’s pending. There’s no time.”

However, with this positive development, the BCCI has cleared the air surrounding the possibility of IPL  taking place next year.
