Indian Twitterati calls Jasprit Bumrah 'heartless' following his grandfather's death

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s latest bowling sensation has taken the world by a storm. The lanky right-arm bowler was first discovered in the IPL, playing for the Mumbai Indians franchise. Since then, Bumrah has taken great strides in his career and has evolved into one of the specialists of the modern game.

However, recently the cricketer was marred with a sad news after his grandfather Santokh Singh’s dead body was found by Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) in the Sabarmati river on Sunday. The 84-year-old had reportedly come to meet his grandson but had been missing since Friday. An FIR was also filed about him being missing by the family members at the Vastrapur police station.

However, after a recent development that revealed a lot of insight into the matter, the Indian Twitterati was left anguished at the cricketer and did not miss the chance to slam him right where it hurts. The details of the development have been entailed below.

Singh, once a successful businessman in Gujarat running three fabrication factories, was forced to drive an auto rickshaw in Kichha after his business went bust.

Financial conditions of Santokh Singh and his family started degrading when they had to close their business after the death of Jasprit’s father. His daughter Rajinder claimed that she along with her dad went to the school where Jasprit’s mother works but she allegedly refused to give any details about the cricketer.

Speaking to news daily Mirror, Santokh’s daughter said, “When we went to meet Jasprit’s mother Daljit Kaur at a city school where she is a teacher, she refused to allow my father any contact with Jasprit. She even refused to share her son’s phone number so that father could talk to him. My father was grief-stricken by this. He left home on Friday afternoon and never returned.”
