Mushfiqur Rahim has been in terrific form off-late and his tremendous form almost won them the Nidahas Trophy final against India in Colombo. A certain Dinesh Karthik came in the way and stole the match from their grasp, but the Tigers can be very proud of the performance they’ve put up.

But since then, a flurry of injuries have concerned the Bangladesh Cricket Board a lot. A whole lot of cricketers are not available for selection right now and this leaves a huge void. Others on the treatment table include Rubel Hossain (viral fever), Mossadek Hossain (back injury) and Nasir Hossain (ligament tear of the knee) While Rubel and Mossadek are unlikely to be out for long, Nasir will be ruled out for six months.

BCB Chief physician confirmed that Mushfiqur sprained his left ankle and will not be available to take the field for another week or so. Mushfiqur currently is playing in the Bangladesh Cricket League and it has been confirmed that he will take no further part in the tournament.

“He sustained a sprain on his left ankle and we suggested one week rest before we take the next course of action after watching his condition,” BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury told Cricbuzz on Monday. ”But our experience says these kinds of sprains take around two to three weeks to recover usually,” he said.

No Surgery is required for Tamim: BCB Physician

Talking about the condition of their premier opener Tamim Iqbal, Debashish said he will not require any surgery. He said that they’re trying to manage his back issues with physiotherapy and injections. He also spoke at length about Mehedy Hasan, who also will not be available for selection for the ODI series against Afghanistan in June.

”We have also observed that Taskin’s performance has gone downwards recently. Maybe his back pain is a reason for that. We are trying to manage it through exercise, physiotherapy, and injection. At the moment no surgery is required for him and hopefully, it will cure soon,” said Debashish.

Talking about Mehedy Hasan,  “We have given him the first injection recently and such injection can be used for two or three times. It’s similar to Mustafizur Rahman‘s injury. So the bottom line is, at first we are trying to handle the injury in a conservative way. And after getting the result we will decide later whether surgery is needed or not,” He said.
