Delhi Daredevils may be out of contention for the IPL playoffs but would want to finish on a good note against a demoralized Royal Challengers Bangalore eleven at Ferozshah Kotla, Delhi. During the fag end of the tournament, IPL would be looked at differently by the players especially with fresh auctions next year.

The Daredevils have been the most inconsistent batting unit and have paid their price for it. Their bowling attack has always been lethal this tournament. The injection of young Indians has obviously uplifted the fielding standards as Daredevils have been an electric unit on the field.

Both the teams would want to finish off on a high and Delhi would want to capitalize on the winning momentum they are currently undergoing with 4 wins in the last 5 matches. Here is a look at predicted XI of the Delhi Daredevils’ lineup in the final league match of the long tournament.

Openers (Sanju Samson, Karun Nair)

Delhi Daredevils batting at the top of the order has been on song in this edition of the IPL. With Karun Nair back amongst the runs, Daredevils lineup looks even more intimidating. Sanju Samson has been amongst the runs this season of the IPL. Samson missed out the last match against the Supergiant unfortunately due to some good fielding from Stokes.

Sanju Samson has amassed as a many as 386 runs in the tournament and would like to finish off the tournament on a high. Karun Nair would look to finish his dismal tournament with yet another flamboyant innings. He looked a class apart the last time he played for Delhi with a silky 45-ball 64 laced with 9 boundaries.

Middle Order (Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant)

Delhi has entrusted their batting line-up with young Indians and they have not disappointed a bit. They have established their reputation in such a way that the likes of Marlon Samuels and Corey Anderson found it difficult to get promoted up the order.

Shreyas Iyer missed out on a brilliant century to score a memorable 96 to see his team through a big chase. Rishabh Pant is already being looked at as an apt successor to Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Who can forget the knock of 97 against Gujarat Lions which lit up the entire IPL? Iyer and Pant would want to finish off their IPL campaign by making another statement.

All Rounders (Marlon Samuels, Corey Anderson, Carlos Brathwaite)

Delhi Daredevils are endowed with a lot of all-rounder in the teams especially with the foreign contingent in the squad. Chris Morris has been their primary all rounder in all the matches he has represented this year. But he and Rabada had to depart for South Africa due to national duties.

This means Marlon Samuels and Corey Anderson have to take additional responsibilities in the all round department. Zaheer Khan took the field with only 3 overseas players. However, they would want to have a look at Carlos Brathwaite yet again and hope that he contributes despite his lukewarm tournament.

Bowlers (Pat Cummins, Shahbaz Nadeem, Zaheer Khan, Mohammad Shami)

Pat Cummins not only has been lethal with the ball but also has made some contributions lower down the order. His knock of 24 in no time proved to be game-changing along with Shreyas Iyer’s gem of an innings in the game against Gujarat Lions. Shahbaz Nadeem has always been economical with the ball and also has chipped in with important wickets in the limited opportunities he had.

To accommodate Nadeem in the team, Amit Mishra should be dropped as his spin proved to be toothless this season. Together with Marlon Samuels, we are looking at 6 overs of spin at least. Zaheer Khan and Shami hold the pace front for the Daredevils along with Brathwaite, Cummins, and Anderson.
