The home team required a very big effort from their bowlers against Bangalore on this particular night after they only managed to score a meagre 131 at the end of their 20 overs. With the star-studded batting line-up Bangalore possess, no one would have given Kolkata a chance at the halfway mark but captain Gautam Gambhir and his team had some other plans.

Aussie pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile came running in from the very first ball and removed captain Virat Kohli in only the first over. He added the most prized wicket in the form of AB de Villiers as the Proteas limited-overs captain was beaten for sheer pace. The ball hurried on to him and he miscued a pull straight up in the air. Robin Uthappa almost made a meal of it but eventually held on at the last moment.

His 3rd and his final wicket were of Kedar Jadhav who closed the face of his bat and gave a straightforward catch to mid-wicket. Though he didn’t bowl the final over, his 3/21 will arguably rank as KKR’s best bowling performance in the tournament.
