Delhi’s line-up was never short of talented and dynamic players with the likes of David Warner, Virender Sehwag, Andre Russel and Glenn Maxwell to name a few. Glenn Maxwell’s IPL debut was with the Delhi Daredevils before he moved on to join the Mumbai Indians where he was finally recognised.

David Warner, too like his fellow Australian moved on to captain the Sunrisers Hyderabad side to an IPL victory. Several of these stars were removed from the team due to lack of performances. Every season, the team from Delhi has made reinforcements, who have not been able to deliver goods to the owners.

The Delhi side managed to win 5 out of their first seven games in the first half of the season, sitting comfortably at second on the table ended up in the sixth position due to a collapse in the second half of the season. Be it shabby performance on the field or be it injudicious purchases, the Delhi Daredevils have done it all.

Rahul Dravid, the coach of the Daredevils, decided to leave out the likes of Imran Tahir, Pawan Negi and Nathan Coulter-Nile just before the auctions for more purchasing cap.

Delhi has purchased former DD player Angelo Mathews, Corey Anderson, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins. They have also bought in mystery spinner Murugan Ashwin, Navdeep Saini. In the batting department, however, they have invested on Aditya Tare and Ankeet Bawane.

The lone fighter in the most inexperienced batting unit of IPL, de Kock showed his class last year, amassing 445 runs from 13 games at an average of 32.2 runs per innings. Despite blowing ‘hot and cold’ at times, he was by far the best batsman in the side.

His season-defining innings was the one against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where he scored 108 runs in just 51 balls with 15 fours and three sixes. It was one of the best knocks that IPL 9 had witnessed.

Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, was a disappointment for the side only scoring 30 runs in the six matches that he was part of. The wicket-keeper Sanju Sampson had been a bit of disappointment for the Daredevils side, managing only 291 runs in 14 matches. Karun’s domestic form, however, was not displayed in the IPL and he would hope to show his class in the tenth edition of IPL. His match-winning innings of 83 against the champions Sunrisers would go down as one of Daredevil’s best individual performance.

Duminy, could not bring his experience to the party, failing to score runs freely. After giving up the captaincy to Zaheer Khan, the left-handed batsmen’s season was way below par. The South African scored 191 runs in 10 innings at an impressive average of 122, which clearly is below par for a batsman of his stature. Zaheer would love to see the experienced batsmen back in form for the side from Delhi.

Rishabh Pant, the young, dynamic left-hander was a bit of revelation in his Delhi’s line-up. Age was just a number for Pant as his maturity was way beyond his age. His IPL total of 198 runs for the season in 10 games was a little more than what the experienced Duminy had to offer, and it would be interesting to see what he could offer this year.

He was yet again brilliant with the ball in his hand, and with the captaincy with some amazing bowling changes. Zaheer was expected to retire at the end of the last season, but with his will and fitness, we would most likely continue until the end of IPL 10.

Rabada has been a sense of revelation for the South African national team in the recent times. South African skipper Faf Du Plessis has given the ball to the fast-bowler whenever he needs a wicket, and the right-arm quick has always obliged his captain’s wishes.

His partnership with fellow South African Chris Morris would probably be the helping hand to the Daredevils 2017 IPL Campaign. His economy of 8.25 is a bit of concern for the side, but his average of 22.64 is a huge add-on for Zaheer’s side.

Carlos Brathwaite, one of the key performers in the West Indies’s T20 World Cup win, would be waiting for an opportunity to grab it with both hands. He would want to repeat his performances in the last season of the IPL, when he smashed an 11 ball 34 against the Knight Riders, also picking up three wickets in the same game.

Aditya Tare, the Mumbai wicket-keeper would get a chance or two in the tournament where he might replace the likes of either Rishab Pant or Shreyas Iyer. Tare is known for his explosive knocks when he was part of the Mumbai Indians.

<p>The lone fighter in the most inexperienced batting unit of IPL, de Kock showed his class last year, amassing 445 runs from 13 games at an average of 32.2 runs per innings. Despite blowing ‘hot and cold’ at times, he was by far the best batsman in the side.</p>
<p>His season-defining innings was the one against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where he scored 108 runs in just 51 balls with 15 fours and three sixes. It was one of the best knocks that IPL 9 had witnessed.</p>
<p>Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, was a disappointment for the side only scoring 30 runs in the six matches that he was part of. Iyer has since then worked heavily on his batting, and the results were shown as recently as the tour match against the Aussies where he scored a double century, which included hits that cleared the boundary.</p>
<p>Dravid would be hopeful that Iyer’s form would help the Daredevils to get off to a good start in the IPL.</p>
<h4><strong>Middle Order:</strong></h4>
<h4><strong>Sanju Sampson, Karun Nair, JP Duminy, Rishab Pant</strong></h4>

<p>The wicket-keeper Sanju Sampson had been a bit of disappointment for the Daredevils side, managing only 291 runs in 14 matches. Samson is one Delhi’s best technical batsmen as claimed by the coach himself. He was being shifted all around the batting order which was one of the reasons that he could not get big scores to his name.</p>
<p>His flashy form was one of the main issues for the Daredevils, lacking consistency in the middle of the order. If he could replicate the innings of 60 he scored against Mumbai Indians, it would benefit the whole batting unit.</p>
<p>Karun Nair was easily one of the best batsmen in the Daredevils line-up last year. The Karnataka batsmen scored 357 runs in the tournament in 14 matches at an average of 25.5 runs per innings. Karun’s domestic form, however, was not displayed in the IPL and he would hope to show his class in the tenth edition of IPL. His match-winning innings of 83 against the champions Sunrisers would go down as one of Daredevil’s best individual performance.</p>
<p>Duminy, could not bring his experience to the party, failing to score runs freely. After giving up the captaincy to Zaheer Khan, the left-handed batsmen’s season was way below par. The South African scored 191 runs in 10 innings at an impressive average of 122, which clearly is below par for a batsman of his stature. Zaheer would love to see the experienced batsmen back in form for the side from Delhi.</p>
<p>Rishabh Pant, the young, dynamic left-hander was a bit of revelation in his Delhi’s line-up. Age was just a number for Pant as his maturity was way beyond his age. His IPL total of 198 runs for the season in 10 games was a little more than what the experienced Duminy had to offer, and it would be interesting to see what he could offer this year.</p>
<h4><strong>All Rounders:</strong></h4>

<p>Undoubtedly the best player for the Daredevils last season. Morris was at his best with both bat and ball. The South African all-rounder scalped 13 wickets at an economy rate of 7 alongside scoring a massive total of 195 runs at a humongous strike rate of 179 in just 12 innings.</p>
<p>IPL 9 would be known for Morris’ knock of 82 runs in a losing cause off just 32 balls where he managed to almost single-handedly take his side home. Dravid and co would be hopeful of the all-rounder to show a similar display in the tenth season of the IPL.</p>
<p>The other all-rounder is India’s very own Jayant Yadav, who was particularly not impressive in his last IPL outing. Jayant could only pick up two wickets in the five matches that he played in the season. Since then, the all-rounder has gone on to represent India in the longer format where he has contributed both with the bat and the ball.</p>
<p>The Delhi Management would be hopeful of both the all-rounder&#8217;s form as it might be the x-factor in the season.</p>
<h4><strong>Pace Bowlers:</strong></h4>

<p>Zaheer Khan, the captain of the side and the leader of the bowling unit, has led the side well despite the large flak faced from the media. Delhi were mocked for appointing Zaheer as their captain, age largely being the factor which critics pointed out.</p>
<p>He was yet again brilliant with the ball in his hand, and with the captaincy with some amazing bowling changes. Zaheer was expected to retire at the end of the last season, but with his will and fitness, we would most likely continue until the end of IPL 10.</p>
<p>Rabada has been a sense of revelation for the South African national team in the recent times. South African skipper Faf Du Plessis has given the ball to the fast-bowler whenever he needs a wicket, and the right-arm quick has always obliged his captain’s wishes.</p>
<p>His partnership with fellow South African Chris Morris would probably be the helping hand to the Daredevils 2017 IPL Campaign. His economy of 8.25 is a bit of concern for the side, but his average of 22.64 is a huge add-on for Zaheer’s side.</p>
<h4><strong>Spinner:</strong></h4>

<p>Amit Mishra has probably been one of the saviours for the Delhi team for many seasons. He was yet again effective in the ninth season of the IPL picking up 13 wickets in 14 games at an economy rate of 7.47. He is probably the only spinner to have been a constant performer in the IPL.</p>
<p>If he reciprocates his magical spell of 4/11 that he took against Punjab in this year’s IPL, it is certain that the Daredevils would stand at a better position on the IPL table.</p>
<h4>Possible Replacements:</h4>
<p>Carlos Brathwaite, one of the key performers in the West Indies’s T20 World Cup win, would be waiting for an opportunity to grab it with both hands. He would want to repeat his performances in the last season of the IPL, when he smashed an 11 ball 34 against the Knight Riders, also picking up three wickets in the same game.</p>
<p>Aditya Tare, the Mumbai wicket-keeper would get a chance or two in the tournament where he might replace the likes of either Rishab Pant or Shreyas Iyer. Tare is known for his explosive knocks when he was part of the Mumbai Indians.</p>
<p>Murugan Ashwin, Dhoni’s secret weapon last IPL would have the best chance to feature in the team in place of the Indian international Jayant Yadav. Pat Cummins, might play a part in the tournament replacing Rabada as soon as Rabada leaves IPL for International duty.</p>
<p>Angelo Mathews too might flex his arms in a pursuit to get a place in the playing eleven instead of the outgoing JP Duminy, due to International duty with Mathews having the ability to bowl too.</p>
