The Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League having won the coveted title twice. The team boasts of top stars in the name of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah with a good mix of local and foreign talent. Franchises have to bring out their A game to have a chance against the Mumbai Indians.

Slow starters

The Rohit Sharma led franchise faced the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede in the opening match of the IPL 2018. Things were going well for Mumbai until the arrival of Dwayne Bravo who smashed Mcclenhagen and Bumrah to all parts of the ground and seal an unlikely victory. However, Mumbai is known to be slow starters and take charge of the tournament in the latter half. Their opponents today – Hyderabad – are aware of this, and realize that Rohit Sharma & Co would want to buck the trend when both teams square off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium this evening.

Carlos Brathwaite, the West Indian all-rounder who won the T20 World Cup final for his country is currently associated with the SunRisers. “Mumbai Indians are coming off a first game loss and they will be looking to bounce back. We need to make sure that it’s not us that they get redemption from. They are wounded and slow starters, but we need to be wary of the wounded beasts,” Brathwaite was quoted as saying by mid-day.

Cannot be let loose

Mumbai Indians are a star-studded side and can never be ruled out of the game. Taking the early breakthrough of Rohit Sharma is important but if the likes of Pollard, Pandya brothers and Ishan Kishan are let loose, then it becomes very difficult for the opposition to get back in the game. Today’s contest will be about Mumbai firepower in the batting lineup versus the solid Hyderabad bowling attack.

Hyderabad is on the back of a big win against the Rajasthan Royals after Shikhar Dhawan’s ubiquitous influence led them to a thumping nine-wicket win. They did not miss the services of David Warner as the Indian southpaw made light work of the target set by Rajasthan Royals.
