The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are currently breathing down the neck of each other owing to the cut-throat competition for the top four slots in the league table. Though the Knights are three places above RCB, there’s a mathematical possibility for the Challengers to overhaul Dinesh Karthik’s men to the fourth position in today’s fixture in Bangalore.
Both teams have had their fair share of stutters and have slumped during crunch moments of a game. KKR would be desperate to shrug the disappointment off their previous defeat against the Kings XI Punjab and would want to make amends at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli’s boys have been straining to find their feet in the tournament as well.
Though RCB has won a couple of matches against Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils (DD), they have looked far from being settled. They were thumped by MS Dhoni’s might in their last game at the same venue, which would have left a psychological scar on them. Both sides would be desperate for a victory in order to climb the ladder and strengthen their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
A soothing atmosphere in store
Threats of rain have always loomed large in Bangalore, especially during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and resultantly several games have either been delayed or abandoned. However, the supporters can afford to stay relaxed as there are no chances of rain as of now. The temperature would loiter around the 30 degree Celsius in the morning and would come down till the mid-20s during the game.
Overall verdict
The ambience at the venue has been electric and there would be a massive support for both the teams. A rain-interrupted game wouldn’t have been happily welcomed by the players as it could’ve made a massive impact on the game and maybe to their road ahead in the league.
