The Delhi Daredevils have hopelessly crashed out of the race for the playoffs in the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League. Unless certain results go their way and they win their remaining games, the tournament is as good as done for them. In their most recent game, they faced off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. It was a must win game for them, pretty much like every other game they have played in the last couple of weeks.

However, they ended up losing the game by 7 wickets. Now, they head back to their happy hunting ground in Delhi, to host the same Sunrisers Hyderabad again. In the reverse fixture, they would hope to turn their fortunes with a win. The game means everything for the Delhi Daredevils. A defeat in the game will completely shatter their little hopes that still persist.

On the other hand, the Sunrisers will head in to the competition riding on some serious confidence. They are in a happy place at the moment, on the top of the points table. A win in this game will confirm their qualification in the playoffs. Certainly, for the double Ds to overhaul the SRH confidence, the team needs to come up with their best possible eleven in the match.

Here is the Delhi Daredevils Predicted XI for the match:

Openers (Prithvi Shaw, Glenn Maxwell)

Prithvi Shaw has been a revelation for the Delhi Daredevils this season. The young lad recently became the youngest player to score a fifty in the IPL. In the previous game against the Sunrisers, he looked in sublime form and had hit his second fifty of the season.

Shaw is likely to be accompanied by Glenn Maxwell in the opening role. Maxwell has opened for his national side before and can be an explosive option at the top of the order. Furthermore, Maxwell had opened in the previous game as well but was unlucky to have been runout in the match.

Middle-Order (Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant)

The middle-order for the Daredevils looks rock solid at the moment. Their skipper Shreyas Iyer has been in a sensational form in the season ever since he has taken over as the captain of the side. Iyer has scored fifties at will this season and would want to make his efforts count for the team now.

While Iyer’s form has been classy and elegant, Rishabh Pant has been at his brutal best this season. The Delhi youngster has shown why he is revered as one of the best hitters in the Indian cricket circuit. Pant has also held the Orange Cap for a brief while this season and looks in a dominating form.

All-rounders (Vijay Shankar, Dan Christian)

All-rounder Vijay Shankar had a very timid start to the season. Neither did he click with the bat, nor did he impress with the ball. However, in the last few games, he has gained some serious hitting form. His fifty against the Chennai Super Kings was a testimony of how well he can hit the long ball.

Dan Christian had a poor outing in the previous game against the Sunrisers. He failed to defend the runs in the final over of the game. Despite this, the veteran all-rounder is very much likely to retain his place in the side.

Spinners (Shahbaz Nadeem, Amit Mishra)

Considering the fact that the Delhi Daredevils will be playing this game at home, they can go ahead with two spinners in their lineup. Amit Mishra has been one of the top performers for the team this season. Mishra has proven to be the wicket taking option for his skipper.

Mishra is likely to be accompanied by Shahbaz Nadeem in the spin department. Nadeem has had a very quiet time in the IPL this year. The veteran spinner, however, will fancy his chances on the slow track at the Kotla. He has tasted a lot of success at the venue.

Pacers (Liam Plunkett, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult)

Liam Plunkett had started off on a very positive note for the Delhi Daredevils. However, his form has lacked sheen after his first two appearances in the outfit. Despite this, the fact that he has bowled well in Delhi makes him a certain starter for the match against the Sunrisers.

The Daredevils could also bring back Mohammed Shami for this particular game. Shami was a regular member of the team in the early part of the season. He was replaced by Avesh Khan, who looked very impressive with the new ball. But the poor show from Avesh in the last two matches could bring Shami back in the scheme of things.

Lastly, Trent Boult is set to feature in the game against the Sunrisers. Boult has been the best bowler for the Daredevils in the tournament this year. Also, he is among the top contenders for the Purple Cap as well. He is set to play a big role in the coming fixtures.
